A frozen but salvaged weekend in Lake Placid

Let's go to Lake Placid, we said.  It'll be fun, we said.  We can climb Mt. Marcy and go cross-country skiing.  God and John Lennon just laughed.  But we salvaged the weekend with a good ol' dose of American cash and had a glorious time.

The view from our second set of accomodations.

Glory in the Old Hood

The first weekend in February marked the true arrival of this winter.  I played in a pond hockey tournament, used the ice scraper on the car's headlights, and took many long walks in the snow.  The tournament was in our old neighborhood, and between games I finally took photos of my favorite street art from our old walking routes.  I loved that neighborhood.

MANATEES!, or Our Weekend in Florida

My arms are noodles and my face windburned from cross country skiing this morning.  It's hard to believe that mere days ago I was kayaking with manatees.  MANATEES.  I miss you, manatees.

Seen while biking from cabin to RV.
